A high-quality, 68-page, three-monthly publication with 60 or more sudukos, crosswords, word searches, word ladders, maths puzzles etc.

Great fun for the reader, it informs local people of the HCL grant facilities (177 grants provided in the last 3 years) and encourages help requests from local families.

Readers can submit their favourite menus and anecdotes for inclusion in later issues and, subject to space, they can place FREE classified adverts for items they want to sell or buy.

This quality book achieves four main purposes ......

It gives the reader a lot of fun ...... most people like sudukos, crosswords, word searches etc!
It efficiently and transparently raises funds for grants to local disadvantaged children.
It shows local people the HCL grant facilities and encourages local help requests.
It provides well-paid, long-term work opportunities for those distributing it.

Under licence to Helping Children Locally, Fun Book Productions finances, publishes and markets the book and, from the sale price of Ł3.50, they donate Ł1 per copy to HCL which is spent entirely on grants. HCL makes no deductions for any purpose whatsoever.

DISTRIBUTING THE BOOK TO HOUSEHOLDERS
We'll show you in your own area how to do this work simply and effectively. You don't need any special skills.
This is profitable work provided you can walk and are prepared to knock on doors to introduce the book with a short dialogue that takes only 15 seconds to give. There's no hard selling, no persuasion, no pressure, no emotional blackmail etc.

Initially you should initially expect 40% or so of people to take the book. The others usually apologise for not doing so because they have no money that day, prefer not to buy at the door, support specific charities etc. The public is never rude to us and we've never had doors shut in our faces!

In fact, householders are very receptive, good-hearted, willing to support local disadvantaged children, and they deserve to be treated courteously by clean, smartly-dressed, good-humoured people. So that's what you need to be.
The magazine is to be quarterly so you'll canvass those same streets or businesses every three months and, as people get more familiar with your face and the name Helping Children Locally, you'll probably find that the take-up rate will increase to 60% or more.
You do not need sales skill for this work and you're not there to persuade anyone to take the books. It's a simple introductiona and they either do take it or they don't. You apply no pressure, no sales tactics, no persuasions.
You will become the Local Ambassador for HCL and, as people become more familiar with you, you'll find this work quite sociable.
It's not vital that you have transport but you would find it helpful - even if it's only a pushbike.
You'll work Monday to Friday at hours of your choice between the hours of 10am and 7pm.

DISTRIBUTING TO LOCAL BUSINESSES
For this role you DO need a bit more skill with people.
Your task is to canvass local businesses, ask who holds the purse strings in that organisation and responsible for charitable giving and staff relations. You ask for a brief word with that person and you show them what the book is about, the fun it could be for their staff members, and the good that they can help us achieve for children in their area - all for the sake of a little money of minor petty-cash proportions.
You will ask the bosses to buy a number of copies and give them to their staff. Their staff will enjoy all the puzzles and a lot more local people will learn of the grant facilities.
This style of work needs more from you than house to house but the hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and, if you can do this job well, you can earn well in excess of Ł600 per week and build a regular round for resales. It could be great fun.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

You won't know unless you try!

But we will train you and, before you go out to householders or businesses, you will feel confident about what to do and how to do it. It's not rocket science!

So the only way to find out is to try it! Nothing ventured, nothing gained! If you don't try, you will never know!

If you talk yourself out of this opportunity because you've not done it before or because you prejudge how householders or business people might react, then you will forever more be scanning the job adverts, trudging round different agencies etc ...... because the ideal job never seems to come along!
