Our Legal Status
HCL is a not-for-profit organisation.
This status is recognised by local authorities and the many support groups and registered charities that have referred clients to us.
Is HCL a registered charity?
No. We are simply a not-for-profit organisation with the purpose of making grants for the benefit of disadvantaged children.
How does HCL raise it's funds?
We no longer perform tin collections - but we sincerely thank the managers of the stores that have allowed us to do so in the past.
Our fundraisers have willingly explained our status to donors and the explanatory leaflets that they gave to donors explained it clearly and in writing (these leaflets also generated most of the help requests).
Neverthelesss, we are given to understand that some people assumed that we were a charity because we did tin collections in stores. To avoid any such confusion, we have permanently ceased tin collections.
We will of course be grateful for any postal donations and these will be put toward grants with no deductions whatsoever.
However, our main flow of funds will be generated by the sale of the HCL Fun & Puzzle Books. Our commercial participator will donate to HCL £1.00 for each book that they sell through their sales agents. We anticipate that these donations will exceed £93,000 per year.
For each book subsequently sold by quarterly subscription, our commercial participator will donate £2.00 to HCL less only the cost of delivery to the subscriber.
All funds recieved by HCL will be disbursed in full toward grants with no deductions whatsoever.
To whom can I raise any query or complaint about HCL?
We've received very few enquiries of concern. Nevertheless, good practice requires us to provide a structured Complaints Procedure. If you have any concerns about us, feel free to use those procedures.

Any queries or complaints will be referred to the board of trustees for discussion of any action taken on their behalf in the meantime and decisions on any further action they consider appropriate.
